CONGRATULATIONS

Well done to all the children in the Parish who have so far made the Sacraments of Holy Communion & Confirmation. Best wishes to all children who will receive the Sacraments in the coming weeks. TABLE QUIZPortarlington Lions Clubs are holding a Table Quiz in The Barrow Lodge, French church Street on Friday October 29.  Brush off the old cross words and dictionaries and share the knowledge at a fun evening with friends. Table of 4 is €40. Your support as always is appreciated.

BINGO

The Portarlington Social Services, Seniors Bingo has returned, every Wednesday night at 8.30pm in the Social Services Centre Link Road. Come along to a lovely Social night. Play a few games of Bingo & enjoy a cuppa. All precautions are in place for your safe return. We are looking forward to seeing all of you.

TRACTOR RUN

The Bracknagh Tractor run committee would like to thank all who supported this year’s Tractor run. A total of €13,000 was raised for Hooves for Hospice and local community groups. To all who contributed or helped out, a million thanks from the Bracknagh Tractor Run Committee

This weekend’s PASS WIDE AND SLOW Ride from Portarlington to the Curragh, was a great success for raising awareness in motorists and other road users, regarding the necessary consideration needed when encountering horses on public roads.

WALK IN CENTRE 

The Covid-19 walk-in vaccination centre is now located on Saint Fintan’s Hospital Campus, off the Stradbally Road in Portlaoise. The clinic will cater for those availing of their first and second Pfizer doses. Please note, in order to receive the second dose of Pfizer you must wait at least 21 days after your first dose. There is free parking on the grounds of the campus. 

SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Edward (Ned) Fitzgerald, Rath Ballybrittas who passed away on Friday October 1 surrounded by his loving family. Ned was predeceased by his loving wife Brigid, his children Mary, Noel & Mary. He will be sadly missed by his devoted children, Martha, Lily, Edward, Breda, Olivia, Martin, Patricia, Margaret, Philomena, Bernie, P.J, Gerard, Carmel, Gabriel & John Paul, sister May Dempsey, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours & friends. Ned will be remembered by many for his many years as a Postman. Funeral Mass took place on Monday October 4 at the Sacred Heart Church Rath, with burial after in Ballyadden Cemetery. May Ned’s gentle soul rest in Peace. 


SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Sr. Fergal (Mary) Kenna, Medical Missionaries of Mary, Drogheda, Co. Louth & formerly Portarlington, Kenya & Uganda, who passed away on Friday October 1. Sr Mary was predeceased by her parents Michael & Vera Kenna & her sister Annie Flanagan. She will be sadly missed by her brother Jack Kenna & his wife Mary, nieces, nephews, extended family & her MMM Community. Funeral took place on Monday October 4 at the MMM Convent Drogheda, with burial in St Peter’s Cemetery. May Sr Mary’s soul rest in Peace.

The Port GAA Bingo is back. The Club look forward to welcoming their patrons back at 8.30pm every Tuesday at the Portarlington GAA Centre. Patrons are asked to arrive early, face masks and covid certificate are required for entry.  Up to €3,500 in prize money to be won.
