HSE VACCINATION 

Parents can now register their Children aged 12–15 on the HSE vaccination Portal.  Official word has to come from the HSE to confirm that vaccination for this age group will also be available in Pharmacies. 

Parental or guardian consent will be required and children aged 12-15 will need to be accompanied by an adult to any vaccination appointment. 

GOOD LUCK NICOLE

Wishing Nicole Turner all the very best in Tokyo. Nicole left Portarlington on Sunday August 1 & will be away from her family in Garryhinch until September 8. Nicole will swim in her first event on August 25. Wishing Nicole all the success in the world at her second Paralympic games, and hoping she has the best time ever. Her swims are S6 women 50m freestyle, August 25, S6 women 100m breaststroke, August 28 & S6 women 50m butterfly, August 30.

SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Harrington (Roy) Fossitt, Walsh Island who passed away on Friday August 6. Roy will be sadly missed by his loving wife Lila, daughters Sally & Julie, son Andrew, sister Shirley, grandchildren, extended family & friends. Funeral took place on Monday August 9 at St Mary’s Church Geashill, with burial in Walsh Island Cemetery. May Roy rest in Peace.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Bridget Canton (nee Hanlon), Walsh Island who passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday August 9. Bridget was predeceased by her husband Tommy, son John, grandchildren Bridget & Ian. Bridget will be sadly missed by her daughters Tess, Lily (Duffy), Bridget (Kavanagh), Catherine & Ann, sons Paddy & Thomas, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great Grandchildren, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral Mass took place in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Walsh Island on Thursday August 12, with burial after in the adjoining Cemetery. May Bridget’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

CEMETERY COMMITTEE

MUSIC ON THE GREEN

Many tunes were played in St. Brigid’s Square with the Portarlington Concert Band recently.  

The Committee of Portarlington Concert Band, Gerry their Tutor and the Senior Members of the band would like to say a huge thanks to the Residents Committee, and the Residents of St. Brigid’s Square for looking after them on the day. They look forward to seeing you all again soon at other venues. The band are hoping to continue playing for the public at different estates. Meanwhile, lessons continue at the old Girls School, Patrick St. Both Adults and children are welcome to come along and try out an instrument. For more information contact Pat Donegan at 0838510428.

TENNIS

Social Tennis is back for Adult Players at Portarlington Lawn Tennis Club every Wednesday from 7.15pm, starting August 18. For who- 3 Set match (Tretorn

 Plus) players & Adult Social Players. A separate date and time to resume Beginner Social Tennis will be decided shortly. How it will work- Players will be matched with others of similar ability.   Match will be first to win 5 games.  Singles vs doubles will be decided upon numbers on the night. See you next week for some long-awaited game time!
