KILLENARD CEMETERY

Due to the current Covid19 restrictions the Killenard Graveyard committee have been unable to carry out their usual Church gate collections at Mass and at the blessing of the graves. They have therefore set up a Go Fund me page to raise vital funds for the maintenance and upkeep of St. John’s Cemetery, Killenard.

Any donation you can make would be greatly appreciated to keep the Cemetery maintained. If you wish to make a donation in person please contact Pat Cooper or Eddie Slevin.

SCAM ALERTS

Gardaí are urging the public to spread the word of fraud prevention as people continue to fall victim to scams on a daily basis, after receiving calls from fraudsters claiming to be from Government and State Agencies, such as An Garda Síochána and the Department of Social Protection.

On receipt of these communications, the advice of An Garda Síochána is as follows:

• Do not engage with the caller.

• Do not return the call.

• Do not follow the automated instructions – Do not press 1 etc.

• Never disclose personal or financial information.

• Hang up and block the number if possible.

Whilst the scammers may change their stories and methods, their goal is always the same – they want to access your sensitive information and get their hands on your money.

If you believe you may have fallen victim to a scam, contact your financial institution and report the matter to local Gardaí.

Always keep your personal information safe and be fraud aware.

PORT TIDY TOWNS

It is that time again. The Tidy Towns competition is due to be judged in the next couple of weeks. As a voluntary committee we would not be able to continue our endeavors if it was not for the strong partnerships we have with Laois and Offaly County Councils, our local councillors, politicians, TD, the CES and TUS schemes and all members of the Local Community and Businesses. We appreciate everyone’s ongoing support. Remember” Love Where You Live”
