ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Portarlington Active Retirement Club takes place every Thursday from 1.45pm to 3.45pm at the Portarlington Community Centre. New members welcome.

As part of the Leaves Festival Dr Becky Long will give a talk full of tips and useful information on how to help your children love reading. Takes place Saturday November 12 at 11am . The Tidy Town's 'Spring Clean' of Portarlington on Saturday 23 April was a big success. Over 120 volunteers took part at 34 different locations across the town and surrounding areas. 190 sacks of rubbish were collected.

Clever Little Handies-Free Clever Little Handies Course . Portarlington Library from this Wednesday November 9 at 11:40am (running for 4 weeks). Clever Little Handies is a baby sign language class using Irish Sign Language signs that pertain to the day to day with a baby, taught through nursery rhymes, songs and poems. Deepest Sympathy to the family of Lucinda Kenny, Annamoe Portarlington who passed away on Thursday October 27. Lucinda was predeceased by her parents John & Florence. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Georgina, Sylvia & Florence, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral service took place on Saturday October 29 at Cloneyhurke Church, Garryhinch, with burial after I the adjoining Churchyard. May Lucinda’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

My deepest Sympathy to the family of Shirley Goodwin (nee Fossitt), Killenard Portarlington, who passed away surrounded by her devoted family on Monday October 31. 

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Billy & daughter in law Anne. She will be sadly missed by her family Rodney, Velma, Lyle & Neil, grandchildren Harry, George, Alice, Martha, William, Dorothy, Sadhbh, Ruairi & Aine, great-grandchildren Daniel & Emily, son in law Malcom, daughter in laws Joan & Janice, extended family, neighbours & friends. Funeral took place on Thursday November 3

May Shirley’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Dominic (Dom) Cooper, Mountmellick & formerly Clanmalire Portarlington who passed away on Monday October 31. 

Dom was predeceased by his loving mother Mary, stepfather Joe & his nephew John. 

Dom will be sadly missed by his darling daughter Nicole, grandchildren Amber & Scott, Nicole’s partner Stephen & her mother Veronica, his partner Rona & her family, his 8 brothers, extended family, neighbours & a large circle of friends. Funeral Mass took place at St Joseph’s Church Mountmellick on Thursday November 3, with burial after in St Joseph’s cemetery. May Dom rest in Peace.
