On Wednesday August 24, a group of Johnny’s friends will do a relay run of the perimeter of Manhattan for the campaign. The 60km run will be split into 5 or 6 legs. Members of this group of Laois and Offaly men will lead each leg, accompanied by friends. The fundraising continues that night in The Five Lamps. Help spread the word by sharing with your contacts in New York!

The Tidy Town's 'Spring Clean' of Portarlington on Saturday 23 April was a big success. Over 120 volunteers took part at 34 different locations across the town and surrounding areas. 190 sacks of rubbish were collected.

GOLF CLASSIC

The Golf Classic held on August 11 & 12 at Portarlington Golf Club was a huge success.

The organizers would like to say a huge thank you to Portarlington Golf Club, for the complimentary use of the course for the two days. The 72 teams who participated. The generous sponsors.  The hardworking committee and all who helped behind the scenes to ensure the event ran smoothly. Thanks to you all, €42,400 was raised for Fight for Johnny’s Girls. Congratulations to all the winners.

SYMPATHY

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Patrick Dunne, Landsdowne Court & formerly St Michael’s Park who passed away on Tuesday August 16. Patrick was predeceased by his loving mother Esther. He will be sadly missed by his father Martin, aunts, uncles, Martins partner Mary, extended family, neighbours and friends. Funeral Mass took place on Friday August 19 at St Michael’s Church, with burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Patrick rest in Peace.

Young 13 year old Cillín Hoey from Droughill and Emo/Rath AC finished off what was already an incredible year by adding a 4th National Title to his collection.

CILLÍN DOES IT AGAIN

Young 13 year old Cillín Hoey from Droughill and Emo/Rath AC finished off what was already an incredible year by adding a 4th National Title to his collection. Cillín competed in the Community games national finals in Carlow, and he blitzed the field in the U14 80m sprint hurdles. This ends a fantastic season for Cillín having previously won the U14 All Ireland indoor and outdoor sprint hurdles and the U14 All Ireland Pentathlon a few weeks ago. Cillín’s parents Oisin & Ashling, his extended family, friends and his Coach Daithi Keenan are extremely proud of his achievements. Continued success to you Cillin.
