CONGRATULATIONS
A big well done to the Laois Ladies football team who won the All Ireland Intermediate Final against Wexford in Croke Park on Sunday July 31. Great achievement.
It was a great day for ladies sport in Laois, with Laois Camogie U16 winning an all Ireland title also. Well done girls.

GALA BALL
The Portarlington & Killenard Charity Gala Ball takes place on Saturday September 24 at the Heritage Hotel Killenard, Co. Laois. This year’s event is in aid of the Midlands Hospice Build. For your tickets contact Marie Corcoran.

CONCERT BAND
Some great news for the Summer. The Portarlington Concert Band School of Music remains open for the rest of the holidays for lessons. Also for any parents who wish for their child to learn a musical instrument. All Instruments are free of charge. SYMPATHY
Deepest Sympathy to the family of Mary Olive Conroy (nee O’Sullivan) Mountmellick & Killenard, Portarlington, who passed away on Sunday July 31. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Gerry. She will be sadly missed by her brothers Bernard & Gerard, sisters Mona, Teresa, Carmel, Virginia & Dolores, extended family & friends. Funeral Mass took place on Thursday August 4 at St John’s Church Killenard, with burial after in the adjoining Cemetery. May Mary’s gentle soul rest in Peace.
