Laois County Council has launched Free Public WIFI in Portarlington. Free access to Wi-Fi connectivity for citizens in public spaces in the town centre.
In Portarlington the Free Public WIFI is available in the Peoples Park and Link Road between the Fire Station and the Leisure Centre. Also at Main Street & at the Library. Also free internal access in the Library.
FIGHT FOR JOHNNY’S GIRLS
For the past few weeks this fundraiser has been running very successfully. As well as lots of fundraising by individuals & clubs, the go fund me page is still open. His friends have gotten together to raise funds for his little family. Johnny was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Motor Neurons late last year.

The Portarlington & Killenard Charity Gala Ball takes place on Saturday September 24 at the Heritage Hotel Killenard, Co. Laois. This year’s event is in aid of the Midlands Hospice Build. For your tickets contact Marie Corcoran.

who passed away on Thursday July 14. Beloved wife of the late James. Mary will be sadly missed by her loving family James, Colette, Michael, Gerard, Francis, Marie, Kevin and Donal, grandchildren, extended family, neighbours and friends. Mary was a wonderful Community lady, who did so much voluntary work for many years. Funeral Mass took place on Monday July 18 at St Michael’s Church Portarlington, with burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Mary’s gentle soul rest in Peace.

He will be sadly missed by his sons Hubert & John, daughters Annette & Caroline, brother Hugh, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours & friends.

It was with deep sadness that we heard of the death of David (Dave) Smith, Church View Portarlington who passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday July 20. Dave was predeceased by his loving wife Mary & his father Christy (Brophy) Smith. He will be sadly missed by his loving daughter Carol & son David, partner Elaine, his beloved mother Chrissy, brothers, Tom, Chris & Brian, sister Liz, granddaughters Muireann, Saoirse & Caoimhe, sons in law Garrett & Stephen, Elaine’s family, extended family & friends. Funeral Mass took on Friday July 22 at St Michael’s Church, with burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Dave rest in Peace.
