YOUNG MUSICIANS IN ROCK NS CREATE ‘SCHOOL’S OUT’ VIDEO
Children from The Rock NS, Mountmellick who take part in a bodhrán programme with Music Generation Laois, have launched a video showcasing their adventures with their bodhráns. This imaginative video, ‘Schools Out’, shows that the creative spirit is alive and well in The Rock National School, among young musicians, and also teachers Michael Fennelly and Maggie Hyland, and School Principal, Liam Ahern.

Dale McKay, Musician Educator with Music Generation Laois, alongside Terry Byrne from Music Generation Laois, developed the video with the children’s ideas as inspiration. The young bodhrán players feature as the central characters in the video, ‘Schools Out.’
Music Generation Laois will run a 3 day Trad Summer School from the 28-30 June in Laois Music Centre, with bodhrán classes taking place across the 3 days. There are also classes in tin whistle, harp, trad flute, concertina and uilleann pipes. The Summer School takes place in Laois Music Centre, Church Avenue, Portlaoise and is open to age 8 upwards, from recent beginners to advanced, and costs €60.
