Latest Laois Event: Laois celebrates World Mental Health Day with Woodland Wellness Walk
Laois PPN plus member groups enjoyed walk through Durrow’s Dunmore Wood
Laois PPN and their member groups enjoyed a “Woodland Wellness Walk” on World Mental Health Day as part of Laois Connects.
Laois Connects promotes positive mental health and wellbeing. The “Woodland Wellness Walk” took place in Dunmore Wood, Durrow on Tuesday 10th October. With the theme of a “healthy body, healthy mind”, attendees were treated to breakfast at Bowes Café after the walk.
World Mental Health Day aims to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilise efforts in support of mental health.
Paddy Buggy, Laois PPN Secretariat Chairperson “Delighted to meet a large number of people at this Laois Connects event hosted by the PPN. We are delighted as always to participate with Laois County Council, the HSE and the other organisations in organising events which are people focussed and which showcase the best our county has to offer. This particular walking route incorporating a greenway and a blue way on the outskirts of Durrow was a delight for all of us participating and as always this event was followed up by a hearty breakfast in Bowes. Well done to all who participated and thanks to Dan Bergin for organising this on behalf of the PPN.”
Laois PPN Co-Ordinator Dan Bergin said “It was a wonderful opportunity for our Member Groups to connect with nature and each other as part of Laois Connects. As a group we benefited from the proven mental and physical health benefits of woodland walking. We enjoyed good company, good food and conversation, creating those social connections that are important for our mental wellbeing.”
The Laois Connects Programme, co-ordinated by Laois County Council promotes and supports positive mental health and wellbeing.
Laois PPN consists of 650+ Member Groups from the Community, Social Inclusion and Environmental Pillars. All groups registered with Laois PPN are given the opportunity to attend Laois PPN events.
