Laois set to host GrowX in New Year

The GrowX experience is a two day event aimed at bringing together young farmers, young people in rural areas, entrepreneurs and students to help grow the next generation of rural Ireland. On January Thursday 25 and Friday 26, the Midlands Park Hotel will be hosting the inaugural event which includes a jobs fair, talks, competitions, clinics, exhibitions, career advice, demos, fun and great music.

Our ‘Blast from the Past’ photo today is courtesy of Alf Harvey Photographt Jessica and Heyden Lalor at play with “Mittens” on the family farm at Ballygogue, Ballacolla after Pasturel Winter Barley yielding 2.8 tonnes per acre at 14% moisture has been harvested on the site of the 2000 National Ploughing Championships.

The entertainment highlights of the event include guests such as the Highstool Prophets, Meadhbh Walsh, Ritchie Remo and Garron Noone. GrowX will also have the biggest profiles in the industry sharing their tips and experience with attendees, including Marion Cantilion, Sammy Heaney and Ciaran McCormack to name but a few.

The event will focus on key themes for young farmers and ‘ruralites’, delivering a packed agenda concentrating on running your own farm, career advancement, entrepreneurship and self-development. Attendees can expect to watch and hear from inspirational speakers, panels and talks, an exhibition, competitions and lots of entertainment to make it an unforgettable experience.

This event is for anyone aged over 18 that has an interest in the future of Irish agriculture and rural life.
