Latest Laois Event: First-ever Portlaoise Mothers and Others blitz

Portlaoise Mothers and Others host their first ever blitz at Portlaoise GAA Club in Rathleague 

Portlaoise Mothers and Others will host their first ever blitz this Saturday 29th July from 1.00pm to 5.00pm in the GAA Club at Rathleague, Portlaoise.  This blitz will involve over 130 women from clubs all over Ireland for a day of football fun and include some great named clubs such as the Nurangan Ninjas from Kildangan and the Muckalees from Kilkenny.  

Chairperson of Portlaoise Mothers and Others, Andrea McDonald said that she and the organising committee greatly look forward to welcoming women and their families to Portlaoise GAA for this blitz. She commented: ‘Everyone in Portlaoise Mothers and Others looks forward to this first ever blitz being hosted by us.  Every participant, no matter what their ability, will feel welcome on the day.  The ethos of Gaelic4Mothers&Others is that games are held in a fun and inclusive environment and we have made sure that fun is at the centre of everything at our blitz, with music and Zumba being part of the day, as well as football of course!!’.  

Portlaoise Mothers and Others will host their first ever blitz this Saturday 29th July from 1.00pm to 5.00pm in the GAA Club at Rathleague, Portlaoise.  This blitz will involve over 130 women from clubs all over Ireland for a day of football fun and include some great named clubs such as the Nurangan Ninjas from Kildangan and the Muckalees from Kilkenny.  

Ms McDonald thanked all those who have made this blitz happen including Portlaoise GAA Chairperson, Eamon Fennelly, the volunteer referees, the organising committee, the sponsors including Brown’s Off Licence and of course Sports Direct, the overall sponsors of Gaelic4Mothers&Others.

Eamon Fennelly, Chairperson of Portlaoise GAA said that he is delighted to support this first ever blitz and commented: ‘The addition of Mothers & Others to our club over the past few years has been hugely positive for Portlaoise GAA.  The support the club give us, the fun we have when we meet the Mothers and Others at training and of course, the benefit to our club as a community should never be under-estimated.  I am really looking forward to attending the blitz this weekend,’ concluded Mr Fennelly.  

The event is on at Rathleague GAA from 1.00pm-5.00pm on Saturday 29th July 2023.  The day is planned to be family-orientated with a festival atmosphere and all supporters welcome to ensure a great Family Day Out!
