DURROW COMMUNITY COUNCIL:
The council wish to thank all those who supported their Walk, Cycle or Jog to Castlewood on Sunday last, 3rd May. To those who gave sponsorship, to the stewards who kept everyone safe on the way, and to everyone who walked, cycled or jogged. Refreshments were supplied at Castlewood Farm Shop. Our thanks to Alison and Dominic and to everyone who helped. A very enjoyable time was had by all who took part.
DURROW TIDY TOWNS: Durrow Tidy Towns committee will hold a Church Gate Collection on next weekend, 16th and 17th May, before both the Masses on Saturday evening and Sunday morning in Durrow. Your support of this collection would be much appreciated. Funds are badly needed to help cover the expense of planting summer beds, tubs and window boxes in public areas throughout the town and the approach roads.
DAWN CHORUS WALK: Durrow Development Forum will host their annual Dawn Chorus Walk on Sunday May 24th in Dunmore Woods at 4.30am. Pat Durkin from Bird Watch Ireland will be your guide on the walk. Please wear suitable warm clothing and shoes. This is a wonderful walk to hear and listen to the many birds singing in a new day and have them identified by Pat. A sizzle-up will be held on the return from the walk. Donations if desired. For more information contact Noeleen at (087) 9636460.
St VINCENT de PAUL: Congratulations to George O’Brien, Cork Road, Durrow who received a St. Vincent de Paul Certificate and medal for over forty six years of voluntary service in Durrow and in the District. Both George and his wife Mary are wished well by everyone in the Durrow area and we thank George for his wonderful service to the area through St. Vincent de Paul.
NO SWEAT! Family Fun Day: To create awareness and In Aid of Ectodermal Dysplasia Ireland Saturday, 16th May from 12pm to 5pm in Durrow Playground. Bouncy Castles, Bucking Bronco, Slush Puppies and Face Painting. Free to everyone. Also taking place: “No Sweat” Fun Run and Walk (5km or 10km) with prize money of €200 up for grabs! Registration at 2pm in Old Boys’ School or online at www.popupraces.ie/event.php Race Fees: €15 per person, €35 per Family, €10pp for team of five or more, €7 Juvenile. Please support this very worthy cause.
