Laois Weather Forecast
SETTLED WEEKEND ON THE WAY:
Today,Wednesday.
Today will begin overcast and wet in all areas of the Midlands with some heavy bursts of rain likely from time to time. During the early afternoon conditions will brighten up and sunny spells will eventually reach all areas by the evening. It will be a blustery day with highs temperatures reaching between 8 and 11 degrees Celsius.
Tomorrow,Thursday, will be a similar day in many ways with heavy rain likely in all areas through the morning and early afternoon before gradually clearing from the west. Highs will again range between 8 and 11 degrees Celsius. Winds will be fresh and gusty from a south westerly direction.
Current indications suggest that Friday will be a settled day across the country with some pleasant sunny spells likely from time to time, with the best of these being found across Western areas of the region. A weak weather system over England may provide further cloud cover along the east coast of Ireland. Highs will range between 8 and 11 degrees Celsius in mainly light southerly breezes.
Latest weather models continue to show a ridge of high pressure becoming established across the country during the coming weekend with all areas likely to see some pleasant spells of sunshine from time to time. Winds will by then have swung around to a more easterly direction which will add a small bit of bite to the wind. Eastern areas in particular will notice this slight wind chill effect. Highs will range between 7 and 10 degrees Celsius.
Looking ahead to the early days of next week it appears as though a battle ground between warm, moist Atlantic air and cool, dry polar air to the east may become established close to or over the country. This would ensure that rather dry conditions would be likely over the early days of next week with the highest chance of rain being found across the south and west of the country. Temperatures however are expected to be rather poor for early spring with highs ranging between 6 and 9 degrees Celsius. Winds are expected to be fresh to strong and from an easterly direction.
