Laois Summer Arts Review
Laois Arts Office: Summer Arts Programme 2015
As the Laois County Council Summer Arts Programme nears its end for 2015 we have had lots of fun and creativity throughout the county for children and young people. Young artists in Portlaoise under the direction of artist Conor Brennan created a colourful collection of seascapes and clay sculptures of fantastic creatures to bring home. Also in Portlaoise writer Ann Egan worked with a great group of young writers aged 12-15 as she encouraged them to write some really captivating stories and poems. Up to 50 young people enjoyed workshops with Artist Wendy Wright at the MDA in Mountmellick as they created their own city using recycled materials, clay and sculpture. Pottery artist Fin O’Hara from Fin Pottery tuition has been working with two groups of children in Mountrath helping them to create some fantastic pieces of pottery art to take home. The final week takes place in the Laois Arthouse, Stradbally for children aged 6-12 with artist Wendy Wright from Aug 4th to Aug 6th and there are still a few places left for children to enrol for what will be a great few days of fun, making art and pottery.
