Laois Summer Arts Programme
The Laois County Council Summer Arts Programme kicks off in Portlaoise from Tuesday 7th to Thursday 9th July, with artist Conor Brennan who will run fun art workshops for children aged 7 to 12. Over the three days the two hour workshops will include painting, drawing and clay sculpture. Also in Portlaoise, from the 7th to the 9th July, writer Ann Egan will give workshops in creative writing from 11am to 1pm, helping budding young writers, aged 12 to 15, to explore the joy of writing. Ann will give tips and will guide participants in writing their own stories and poems in a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere.
From the 14th to the 16th July from 2pm -4pm, Artist Siobhan Keogh will be In the MDA Centre in Mountmellick with a 3 day fun packed art workshop running from 2pm -4pm for ages 7-12yrs. Participants will get the chance to explore their creative side using many different art materials.
Week three, in Kiln Lane Community Centre, Mountrath, from 21st -23rd of July Finn O’Hara from Fin Pottery Tuition will give workshops over three days, in the morning from 11-1 and a second workshop in the afternoon from 2-4 for ages 7 to 12yrs. The young pottery enthusiasts will get a chance to produce a number of clay pieces and explore the many different techniques of creating with clay.
The final series of workshop takes place in the Laois Arthouse, Stradbally from Tues 4th to Thurs 6th August. Over the three days artist Wendy Wright will help participants learn about different techniques in painting, art/craft and creative sculpture.
