Laois Senior Hurling Final Stats
Clough-Ballacolla v Camross
This afternoon’s Laois Senior Hurling Final sees Camross square up to Clough-Ballacolla. The Slieve Bloom side are seeking to add title number 25 to their haul. Camross came relatively late to the winners enclosure in Laois. Indeed the Black and Amber brigade only racked up Senior Title number one in 1959. Since that belated breakthrough the men from the village in the shadow of the Slieve Blooms have added further championship honours in 1963, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1971, 1973, 1974, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1993, 1994, 1996, 2007 and 2013. Indeed it’s fair to say that Camross GAA has been the Laois Club of the last 50 years.

Another title for Clough-Ballacolla or Camross?
The combination side are seeking to add to their medal haul with their last Laois senior title snapped up in 2011. Indeed Clough-Ballacolla have only begun to make an impression in the Senior Hurling grade in the last decade. The South Laois side were a real force at the turn of the last century as they garnered the ultimate prize under the Ballygeehan banner in 1914, 1915, 1916, 1917 and 1918. Clough-Ballacolla have only two titles under their belt in the modern era; 2009 and 2011.
It is a mouth-watering prospect with such talents as Camross star Zane Keenan and Clough-Ballacolla’s ‘Picky’ Maher on show. Best of luck to both sides.
