Huge thanks to Maurice Joyce, a director with the renowned Kilkenny-based animation studio Cartoon Saloon, for talking to the Durrow and Abbeyleix Library Lego Animation teams here in Durrow Library on Tuesday 20th of March last. Maurice, a Dublin born and Abbeyleix based animator and director, has worked on cartoons such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Beavis and Butthead, King of the Hill, has directed Doug’s First Movie and is currently director of Puffin Rock (which is up for an Emmy award this year). Maurice talked us through the principles of animation and the various ways of putting our stories together. After his talk he also drew everyone a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, so needless to say the event was a great success!
