Laois has S.M.A.R.T. Women in Business
S.M.A.R.T. Women in Business
Following its inaugural meeting in December last year, Laois Enterprising Women’s Network held its first official meeting in the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise on Monday, 16th February.
There was a great turnout on the night with some new members also attending. As word spreads about the network, it continues to grow in numbers, giving female entrepreneurs in Laois the opportunity to join and reap the benefits of being able to network with like-minded women.
Guest speakers on the night were Sandra Aherne, Employ Ability Midlands and Terry Harmer, NLC Training.
Sandra discussed how Employ Ability Midlands assists people with disabilities, both mental and physical, with employment issues. The group found her work very interesting and some were keen to find out more information about providing placements for her clients.
Terry Harmer gave a dynamic and informative talk about goal setting and motivation. Terry’s talk “What They Don’t Teach You at Harvard” was unique and engaging. His S.M.A.R.T approach to goal setting provided the group with food for thought. His distinctive perspective on how and why we set goals kept his audience engaged, with some very positive feedback from the group.
“Thanks for a great evening ladies. Terry’s talk was really motivational and gave me a great boost to get moving on some projects again. Can’t wait for the next one!” Brid McGill, Your Town Fitness
“Terry gave a very inspirational talk. It was a great evening! It’s so good to be able to meet up with other women in business to get ideas and network”. Orla Crean, Barrowline Cruisers
“Brilliant evening in the Killeshin tonight definitely food for thought!!! Amazing how a different perspective makes you reinvestigate your understanding. For anyone who missed out, you missed a very intriguing session” Elaine Maher, E.M.Designs
“A very motivational inspirational meeting,” Yvonne Mc Evoy, The Design Experience
Meetings will take place every second month with the next meeting scheduled for April and with the support of the Local Enterprise Office a great line-up of speakers and events are promised.
