This major moment for the team has been accompanied by a celebration of its partnership with the Lions Club. Special thanks are extended to the Club for supporting the film’s vision from the outset, moving it fromidea to reality, while strengthening the community connections at its heart.

An official cheque presentation took place at 7:30pm on Tuesday 23rd at the Midlands Park Hotel, marking another important occasion in this partnership and celebration of the project.

Reflecting on the partnership, producer and healthcare consultant Catriona Brennan/Marshall said:

“The team behind A Frayed Knot is particularly proud to celebrate its collaboration with the Lions Club during its 50th anniversary year. This partnership arises from a shared commitment to community, compassion, and bringing important conversations to wider audiences.”

The film was developed as a novel collaboration between the Laois duo of Catriona Brennan/Marshall, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, and Emmet Byrne, an award-winning filmmaker and is an independent creativeproject shaped by real-world insight into frailty, future care planning, and difficult conversations.

Dr Frances O Mahony, a Laois-based Palliative Care Consultant highlights the value of the project:

“Some of the most important conversations in life are the hardest to start. Such as dignity, dependence and dying. A Frayed Knot can be the key.”

This moment in the film’s journey provides a valuable opportunity to acknowledge the collaboration, support, and local goodwill that have helped bring the film to this stage. Further thanks are extended to Creative Ireland Laois, Dunamaise Arts Centre, Flynn Medical and Laois Pharmacy.

Writer and director Emmet Byrne was pleased to see filming wrapped, saying:

“A Frayed Knot is rooted in storytelling that matters, and this latest stage represents both an ending anda beginning: filming on set here in Laois has concluded for the crew, but the next step in bringing the finished work to audiences has begun. The whole team is looking forward to sharing more in the months ahead as the project moves into post-production.”
