Laois film begins shooting soon
Principal Photography will begin on Kerry filmmaker Maurice O’ Carroll’s first feature film, Dead Along The Way on September 7th through to September 26th.
Maurice who is originally from Tralee but now living in Laois, has chosen various locations throughout Laois and Dublin for the shoot. “ I am very excited to be shooting this in Laois and we have been very fortunate to have the local community here and indeed in Tralee, rally behind us and help us out. I have to especially thank Ballygarry House Hotel, Michelle Defoye from Dunamaise Art Centre, Anything Goes, Ollys Pub, Ashes Pub Camp, Lynus Breen. Without them and their generosity, we would not be making this film ” .
Maurice is producing this alongside his wife Elaine O’ Carroll and the filmmaking duo have teamed up with Cork born actor/producer Sinead O’Riordan (Stolen, Coming Out, The Bible Basher) from ORion Productions.
Maurice has worked in event filmmaking since 2005 and cut his teeth on live events, music, videos, commercial promos and brand stories. In 2013 and 2014, his short films Coming Out and Windows of Wonder, which he also produced with Elaine, were made for little or no money and won multiple awards on the film festival circuit.
Dead Along The Way is a gritty crime comedy and follows the antics of two wedding videographers trying to hide a corpse before a wedding ceremony.
The cast includes an impressive mix of established and emerging talent. Drogheda born, Niall Murphy (Dracula Untold) will take on the leading role of ‘Whacker McGrath’, alongside Ciarán Bermingham (Game Of Thrones, Killanascully) a well accomplished actor from Cork who is well known for his comedic talents, both onstage and off. Other cast members include Ben Condron, Donna Patrice, Kevin McCormack, Sinead O’Riordan, Gail Kalila Brady, Jeff Doyle, Cora Fenton, Elaine Kennedy, Tara Downes and Zeb Moore.
