Laois Defibrillator Presentation

Presentation of Defibrillators to Community Representatives, Tuesday 11th June at 3pm, Council Chamber, Laois County Council.

Following the launch of the report on defibrillators in Laois in August 2018, the Laois Defibrillator group wish to invite you to join them for a presentation of defibrillators and cabinets to recipients from around the County and to the presentation of the defibrillator database to the National Ambulance Service.

Presentation of Defibrillator box to the Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council John King by Seamus Moran and Derek Phelan on behalf of the Laois Defibrillator Group.

The Laois Defibrillator group has been led by Mr. Peter Naughton, retired consultant and member of Laois Age Friendly Alliance. Their primary objective is to save lives by ensuring all citizens have access to a defibrillator 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and ensure as many people as possible have CPR and AED training. With this in mind the group set out toquantify the number of defibrillators in Laois and record access, availability and location of each one. They have worked to address gaps in service by purchasing hardware and encouraging businesses and community groups to move all defibrillators to a public facing location. In addition, they have worked with the HSE to provide training for individuals and group and are now working to setup a community group to maintain the project into the future.

The project has been supported by Portlaoise Lions Club, Laois Age Friendly Programme, Laois County Council and the HSE.
