
Laois County Fleadh Schedule
In Laois the June Bank Holiday means one thing and one thing alone: three fantastic days and evenings of trad music, song and dance to enjoy this year at Scoil Mhuire NS, Abbeyleix where the Laois County Fleadh is taking place.
The event kicks off at 6.30pm on Friday with set, figure and Sean nos dancing. Group and Ceili band competitions begin on Saturday at 12.30pm continuing with adult solo and group competitions (Over 18 yrs) from 7pm until 10.00 pm.
From 10:00 pm till closing time there will be sessions in several pubs in Abbeyleix. We’ll update on this shortly.
At 12 noon on Sunday at the library in Abbeyleix we will be entertaining the Tralee Rose contestants firstly with a selection of adult musicians and then with the Ratheniska Marching Band (past All-Ireland competition winners in the open marching band competition) then our contestants will head off to resume in our competitions up at Scoil Mhuire at 1 o’clock.
A live broadcast on Midlands Radio 3 ‘Coppers n Brass’ 6 – 8 pm will conclude the Fleadh and allow those who cannot attend in person to get a flavour of what promises to be a marvellous event hosted by Spink CCÉ in Abbeyleix.
