At its first meeting of 2017 Laois County Board of Comhaltas confirmed that the County Fleadh 2017 will take place at Camross on June weekend. Competitions catering for all musical instruments are open to all residents in Laois. This is the first step on the road to Fleadh Ceoil na hÉireann. Many Comhaltas activities do not involve competition and the new board announced an event to celebrate the achievements of young novices when they take to the stage at Dunamaise Theatre on March 5th. A feast of music, song, dance and storytelling with boys and girls who recently joined Comhaltas Ceoltoirí Éireann in the seven branches located in  Clonaslee, Camross, Mountmellick, Portarlington, Portlaoise, Ratheniska and Spink.
