Laois Businesses to Charm Visitors with ‘Castles & Conquests’
Businesses from Co. Laois attended a ‘Castles & Conquests’ workshop in the Newpark Hotel, Kilkenny this week aimed at developing ‘Signature Experience Stories’ for Fáilte Ireland’s new destination brand – Ireland’s Ancient East.
The workshop saw local tourism businesses come together to consider how the stories they tell, and the services and experiences they offer visitors, fit within the Ireland’s Ancient East proposition and brand. They are also designed to develop the overall Signature Experience Development Plan for Ireland’s Ancient East.

The ‘Signature Experience Stories’ will play a key role in attracting visitors to the East and South of Ireland by enticing visitors to stay longer, effectively turning the region, more commonly used as a transit route, into a touring route.
Speaking at the workshop Head of Fáilte Ireland’s Ancient East, Jenny De Saulles said –
“We are developing “Signature Experience Stories” for a number of themes under the overall proposition of Ireland’s Ancient East. One of those Signature Experience Stories takes the theme “Castles & Conquests”. We were delighted to have so many businesses from Laois attended this workshop, each making such a valuable contribution to develop this part of Ireland’s Ancient East.

“The industry will have the opportunity to think through the stories they tell, and the services and experiences they offer visitors, so that they fit within the Ireland’s Ancient East proposition and brand. They will also be inputting to our initial thinking on a joint ‘Signature Experience Development Plan’ that we will be working on over the coming months.”
This workshop takes place soon after a new Ireland’s Ancient East website www.irelandsancienteast.com and domestic marketing campaign were launched to promote the region to visitors from both home and abroad.
