Laois Bealtaine Festival Update
The Laois Bealtaine Festival is up an running in Laois with events taking place in hospitals and venues around Laois. Abbeyleix Hospital Day Care Centre and St Vincent’s Hospital, Mountmellick enjoyed performances by music duo Tandem, as they took the audience for a trip down memory lane in music, song and story from the Showband era.
The ladies of the Laois ICA Federation Choir under the direction of Nuala Kelly also visited the hospitals in Abbeyleix and Mountmellick and were warmly welcomed as they gave a wonderful performance of songs from around the country and bygone years.
A capacity crowd enjoyed a tea dance at the Dunamaise Arts Centre on Wednesday 18th May with Maureen Culleton leading the dances and music by Danny Webster.

Upcoming Events:
· Celebrating the Waltz on Thursday 26th May in St. Canice’s Hall, Borris-in-Ossory From 2.30pm-4pm. Including an exhibition of Maureen Culleton’s newly composed Laois Dancers Set.
· Exhibition of Line Dancing on Tuesday 31st May Irey, Ballyfin from 11am – 12 noon . D’on your hat and jeans and join us for a fun filled hour with dances for all abilities.
· Inter-generational Storytelling on Thursday 26th May in Mountmellick Library at 11am.
Co. Antrim-based writer and storyteller Liz Weir tells tales that can be enjoyed by children and older people alike. Stories will be shared across the generations
