Laois Band Highwall reach No.1!

Laois Band Highwall reach No.1 slot on Irish rock chart with debut single “Under the Sun”

Highwall is a rock band from Ireland. Formed in 2014 Highwall consists of members Ciaran Hyland (Laois), Dara Twamley (Laois) & Ed Walsh (Dublin). In all probability most bands aren’t reincarnated at a funeral. Highwall, on the other hand, began when Ciaran Hyland re-united with Eddie Walsh at Eddie’s dad’s funeral. Soon after, a songwriting partnership re-ignited which had been lying dormant for years. Ciaran (singer) and Eddie (guitarist) first met when they were in a rock band. A few years later that band split and shortly after this Eddie emigrated to the UK. Ciaran continued his singing career with various other artists. The day after the funeral, having decided that they had unfinished business, Eddie picked up his guitar again and wrote some new songs with Ciaran. It wasn’t long after this that they enlisted the expertise of the very talented producer and engineer, Dara Twamley. The guys became a dynamic trinity writing & recording their debut self titled EP Highwall, a blend of straight up melodic guitars, intricate orchestral lines, soaring vocals & a stomping rhythm section, due for release in 2016. The first of these songs from Highwall is the feel-good summer tune – Under the Sun which peaked at No.1 in the iTunes rock charts knocking ACDC off. Under the Sun is available for download on iTunes. Highwall will be interviewed and playing live on Radio Nova July 19. Logo and album artwork is by local graphic designer Caitriona Maher.
