Annie Holland’s Children of the Free State Photography Exhibit Opening Night Artist’s Reception

March 13 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

The exhibit opens  with a reception on Friday, March 13, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

“Children of the Free State” is a series of large scale photographic portraits of older people from rural Ireland born before or just after 1922 when the Irish Free State was established. It’s an artistic overview of this disappearing way of life in Ireland in 2020. Artist Annie Holland is not merely looking back nostalgically or documenting a passing way of life, but rather using this body of work to explore the role of these older people and their continued relevance in rural Ireland.
