LAOIS ALZHEIMER’S SOCIETY NEWS

Laois Alzheimer’s Society Resource Centre at 47 Main Street in Portlaoise town is open Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm. Laois Alzheimer Society is a Homecare Service for Laois people who are living with Dementia. We look after the day to day needs of people and assist in making life more enjoyable for their families.

The Heath Golf Club are hosting an open golf competition on Thursday September 13th September. A three Person Team event (any combination) (two scores to count on each hole) Cost €30 per Team. Prizes for best team (any combination), Best Men’s Team, Best Ladies Team, Best Mixed Team.

We have our next Social Club on Tour on the 13th of September from 2.30pm until 4.30pm in Ballard Lodge, Borris Road, Portlaoise R32 YW82 for people with Dementia and their carers. This is a very relaxed informal event where activities, fun and chat can be shared over a cup of tea.

A Family Carers Support Group will be held on Wednesday 19th September from 7.30pm until 9pm in Resource  Centre. The support group provide an opportunity to meet others in a similar situation, to access information and practical advice in a supportive environment. Free to family members affected by dementia and memory issues. At this month’s Support Group we will be asking people for their views and opinions of the service you receive. This helps us to improve our services. We invite you to take part in this discussion. Your participation is voluntary. If you decide to take part, any opinions expressed are confidential and will not affect the service you receive.
