Cloneyhurke NS students enjoying third year of Gaelbhratach scheme
The Gaelbhratach scheme was established in response to the need to create natural opportunities to speak Irish outside of the formal class setting. We began our journey in 2022/2023, a 2-year process, where we worked towards our certificate in year one and our Gaelbhratach flag in our second year, 2023/2024. Children enjoyed exploring the language through song, games, workshops and making books for the children in the Junior Room in Irish. We were fortunate to secure a grant in our 2nd year, which allowed us to invest in games like Monopoly, Scrabble, Headbanz and Snap through Irish. We meet as a whole school on the first Friday of each month and play these games. Our committee are enjoying a 3rdyear in the programme, which in time we hope to secure our 2nd certificate. We look forward to having a Circus Workshop through Irish in the coming weeks. – Mary Coss, Deputy Principal
