This Saturday, 24th August, Nook and Cranny Gift Store in Portlaoise will host the grand finale of its Summer “Meet the Maker” series. The event, running from 2pm to 5pm, promises to be an unforgettable experience, featuring the unveiling of a deeply meaningful and collaborative work of art, entitled Synergy.
For this special event, we are thrilled to welcome two remarkable artists: Rita Oates, a seasoned creator with a flair for capturing the human spirit in all its essence, and her talented 14-year-old protégé, George Naughton. George’s story is one of both immense courage and profound creativity. Despite living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and the heartache of losing his brother Archie at a young age, George channels his emotions into powerful artistic expressions.
Synergy, their brand-new joint creation, embodies the essence of unity and the extraordinary potential that unfolds when two individuals come together. Through this piece, Rita and George have beautifully captured the simple yet profound truth that, while life’s mysteries may elude us… love, care, and connection are always within our grasp.
