Excitement builds for Mountmellick Enterprise Town event
Sports Pundit Johnny Giles supports #ShopLocal in Mountmellick
Momentum is building for the Mountmellick Enterprise Town event, which takes place next weekend, on Saturday 3rd December in Mountmellick Community Hall. The FREE Expo will showcase a huge variety of local clubs, schools, community groups, food producers and businesses from the wider Mountmellick area, under one roof, from 11am to 3pm.
The organising committee was this week delighted to announce that former Ireland Soccer player turned RTE sports analyst, Johnny Giles will be speaking on the day. Johnny Giles is best remembered for his time as a Leeds United midfielder, but he also played for Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion before finally settling on football punditry. During next Saturday’s event, Johnny Giles will be chatting to exhibitors and attendees, and everyone is welcome to come along to meet him. In addition, former Mountjoy Prison Governor John Lonergan who is now well-regarded for his inspiring public speaking, will address the crowds during the event.

Launch of Mountmellick’s Enterprise Town event
Mountmellick Enterprise Town is supported by Bank of Ireland and Carol Dalton, branch manager in Mountmellick is delighted with the enthusiasm for the event from the community already. “We had a very positive community launch on Wednesday 2nd November, with a lot of interest from exhibitors since that. It was great to have so many people from different local organisations sign up on the night”.
Enterprise Town is also a real family event, featuring a full line up of local entertainment including a performance by Mountmellick Community School Choir and a Santa’s Grotto. A “Kiddies Corner” will keep the younger visitors busy with free face painting, goodie bags, games and treats. Attendees of the event will also be in with the chance of winning lots of great spot prizes during the day.
Many local organisations have now already signed up to showcase, however there are still stands available for any organisations who wish to exhibit. Ms. Dalton, encourages everyone to get involved with this community event; “If you are a local business or organisation please drop into the bank to sign up for this event – it’s free and open to everyone based in the wider Mountmellick area. You will be supporting your community and strengthening your connections locally”.
