An ecumenical remembrance service will take place in Portarlington on Friday August 29th for the 70 young men from the town that lost their lives in the First World War. Those attending will meet at St Michael’s Church French Church Street where the service will take place. Full details of all those killed in the war from the town will be available on the night.
The organising committee would like to invite the families of all those who fought in this terrible conflict to attend as well as anyone with an interest in local history. An exhibition of artefacts associated with the war will be open to the public in St Paul’s from 3 pm to 6 pm on Friday 29th and the remembrance service will commence at 7.30 pm in st Michael’s and continue in St Paul’s
