Laois Heritage Society are delighted to present the next in the line-up of their Spring talks, ‘New Perspectives on the Great Famine in County Laois’ by Dr. Ciarán Reilly. Dr Ciarán Reilly is an historian of 19th & 20th Century Irish History at the Department of History, Maynooth University and Assistant Director of the Centre for the Study of Historic Irish Houses & Estates. He is author of a number of books on the Great Irish Famine including Strokestown and the Great Irish Famine (Dublin, 2014); The Irish Land Agent, 1830-1860: the case of King’s County (Dublin, 2014) and John Plunket Joly and the Great Famine in King’s County (Dublin, 2012). His is also co-editor of The Land Agent (Edinburgh, 2019) and Dublin and the Great Irish Famine (Dublin, 2022)
The talk will be held in the beautiful surrounds of the Balcony Theatre Mountmellick, Thursday 23rd March at 8pm.
