Munster Polo League: This league is always beneficial to our paddlers and they gain great experience in the competition. We wish all paddlers the best of luck in same.

Pool Sessions: Pool sessions to improve level 2 and 3 paddlers continue with Balto Canoeing club in Athy on Sundays evenings. It’s a great opportunity for younger paddlers to practice their roll.

Condolences: LKCC were saddened to hear of the loss of two well regarded Irish paddlers Alex McGourty and David Higgins who lost their lives due to a freak flood whilst paddling in Ecuador. For any of our younger kayakers who paddled with NUIG and Galway Fest both paddlers were well know and David in particular took huge interest in guiding and gave of his time freely, with enthusiasm and passed along a love for kayaking to our younger paddlers. Our thoughts and prayers are with all their families, friends and fellow Kayakers and with the family and friends of Adam Vaughan who is still missing.
Interested in Kayaking: We are founded and based in Durrow with a huge commitment to encouraging our youth to participate. Follow us on Facebook at Laois Kayak and Canoe Club or at www.laoiskayak.com

THE HARPS GAA CLUB: Juvenile AGM: The Harps Juvenile AGM was held in Cullohill Community Centre on Friday, 5th January, 2018 with a sizeable number of members in attendance. The meeting heard detailed reports from the outgoing Officers in relation to the activities of the Juvenile section of the club during 2017. The Officers elected for 2018 were as follows: Chairman – Brain Farrell; Secretary – Enda Murphy; Treasurer – Sean Dunphy. The outgoing Chairman, Noel Kirby, was thanked for all of his hard work and dedication in the role over the last four years.
One of the main issues discussed at the meeting related to the new age structures which are being introduced at Juvenile level in Laois and at national level for 2018. These changes will mean that juvenile grades will be structured at Under 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15 in 2018 with the Under 17 grade being reclassified as Minor level.

Training for all the Harps Juvenile teams will commence in the coming weeks and team mentors will be in contact with parents with more detailed information. The club also intends to hold its annual indoor Nursery Programme during February/March.

CULLOHILL HANDBALL CLUB: The Jimmy and Vera Fogarty Cup was a lively affair with some fantastic performances and some very competitive games right through the day. Some of the highlights were great games at Under 11 Boys between Justin Duggan and John Delahunty and the Girls too with some great handball in a very close run match between the Brophy sisters Aoife and Una. It was only fitting that the best handball and closest game of the day was the final game with only a single point separating team captains and brothers David and Eoghan Doheny.
