PEDAL VINTAGE – DURROW COMMUNITY BIKE HIRE SCHEME: Exciting news for your new years resolution! In the New Year, we are teaming up with Ross, at Core Health & Fitness, to bring you – “Pedal for Health” an eight week leisure cycling programme, designed to improve your general health, fitness and well-being. This programme will include, two leisure cycles each week, in addition to a one-to-one, body composition assessment, introduction to wellness support and talks on a healthy eating plan by a qualified nutritionist. Participants will avail of our brand new leisure bicycles, which will be supplied for the duration of this exciting wellness programme. Early booking is advisable as numbers are limited. DURROW-CULLOHILL DISTRICT ANGLERS: The club held their Christmas party and yearly awards night in the Castle Arms Hotel Durrow recently. A special thanks to the hotel and the staff for a fantastic night which was very much appreciated and a great night was had by all. The awards were presented by Olly Lawlor to: Pat Dunphy for “Heaviest Pike – Senior”; Philip Kearney for “Heaviest Trout – Senior”; Patrick O’Regan for “Grantstown Lake – Fisherman of the Year”; Seamus Coffey for “Senior Angler of the Year Award 2019”. Well done lads on a great achievement. The club would like to thank all involved on the night and wish everybody a Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year and are looking forward to the fishing season starting again!
LAOIS KAYAK AND CANOE CLUB: Kayaking trips are now at weekends there are some pool sessions each month which will be advertised on our Facebook Club Members Group with booking through the Eventbrite online system. Club members interested in partaking in the Munster Polo League should sign up on Eventbrite as soon as possible so that we can confirm numbers before offering unfilled places to adjoining clubs.
The Club Annual St. Stephen’s Day Paddle will take place on December 26th, meeting at the club house for 10.30am with your own equipment or if you need club equipment, this must be booked through Eventbrite and meet at the club house for 10am. A shuttle bus will drop kayakers off at the starting point. This event is open to club members and all Canoeing Ireland clubs. Food will be served in Bob’s bar after the paddle. Annual General Meeting: The Harps GAA will hold their Senior Section AGM on Sunday, January 5th 2020 at the Clubhouse commencing at 5pm. All are most welcome to attend.

ODIN: Kettlebell Fitness and Sport Classes continue on Fridays in Core Fitness via ODIN Kettlebell Club. Times: 6pm for kids and 7pm for adults. Get fit, tone up, meet new friends and have an option to compete. All ages and fitness levels welcome. LIONS AFC: Please support our upcoming 46th Annual Monster Christmas Draw. This year we are appealing for extra support in the quest to raise vital funds to commence our re-development project which includes replacing the AstroTurf surface and drainage to the existing pitch. The total cost of this work will cost €120,000 which will provide great facilities for each and every one of our 250 juveniles, both boys and girls of all ages, and our adult teams. With your support this project can be completed in the next couple of years and make a great difference for everyone involved and players in the future.
The prizes in this years draw are as follows: First Prize – Monster Hamper; Second Prize – Family Ticket to a Republic of Ireland home game; Third Prize – Voucher for Phelan’s Hardware; Fourth Prize – Voucher for Ashbrook Arms; Fifth Prize – Voucher for Bowe’s Café and Foodhall; Sixth Prize – Voucher for Dempsey’s Nurseries; plus lots more additional prizes. The draw will take place on Christmas Eve and tickets costing just €2 each or three for a €5 are now on sale from committee members, players and selected retail outlets in and around Durrow.
