CULLOHILL WALKING CLUB: As the dark evenings draw in why not stay active and walk in the safety and the company of others. Walking continues every Monday and Friday evening leaving Cullohill community centre at 7.30 pm sharp. Free activity. All welcome.

DURROW SOCIAL CLUB: A Social Club has just been set up in Durrow. Starting out small with coffee and lunch we hope to expand our monthly meet ups to nights out, trips to the cinema, pot lucks, going to shows etc… Everyone is welcome regardless of age or interests as we hope to expand our minds and hobbies and make new friends along the way. Our next meet up is in Bowe’s Cafe on Saturday the 18th of November at 3pm for lunch. DURROW BRIDGE CLUB: The winners on October 18th were: First – N/S: Joan and Dickie Dempsey; First – E/W: Gay Doyle and Mary Shortall. The winners on October 25th were: First – N/S: Marie Foley and Jack Murphy; Second – N/S: Phil Kingston and Paddy Purcell; First – E/W: Fr. Martin Delaney and Marion Sherman; Second – E/W: Nora Fitzpatrick and Teresa Phelan. Durrow Bridge Club continues for the winter season on Wednesday evenings in the Presentation Centre at 7.45pm. All are most welcome.
THIRD LAOIS DURROW SCOUTS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2017: The Third Laois Durrow Scouts Group AGM will be held on this Monday, November 13th at 8pm in the Den. All are welcome to attend. Well done to our two Cubs Sophie Lawlor and Lucy Leonard our representatives at the recent Scouting Youth Fourm.
Congratulations  also to Oisin Tynan on being elected as Venture County Representative for the coming year 2017-18, and to Evan Campion on being elected as Scouts Country Representative for the second year running. Laois Scouting News

CULLOHILL ICA: The November meeting of Cullohill ICA was held in Cullohill Community Centre after Palates Classes on Tuesday last. The minutes of previous meeting was read and the annual mass for deceased members will be held on Saturday November 11th. Manor Farm Chickens will be holding a promotional demonstration in Castle Arms Hotel on Wednesday night, November 22nd at 7.30pm. With over 240 years experience in the Chicken business this demonstration is well worth a visit and is open to everyone. We also welcome home the return visit of celebrated Chief Rory O’Connell to the Community Centre for his Christmas Feast Dishes on Wednesday November 15th at 7.30pm.

The Guild have been informed that the Pink Bin at the Carpark is for the Breast Cancer Charity but the blue bin is not for any charity and the contents are sold for profit. The Federation meeting will be in   Castletown on Sunday, November 26th at 2.30pm with six of our members attending. Raffle won by Mary Kelly and Mary Kavanagh. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 5th. The Palates classes finish on Tuesday, November 28th and they have been a great success so far.

CULLOHILL COMMUNITY CENTRE: The AGM of Cullohill Community Centre was held recently where a very successful year was reviewed. The Centre continues to host many activities as well as facilitating  numerous groupings and clubs. The following summarises some of the details for the year just passed with the same and more planned for the coming year – AED  Training, Monster Auction, Circuit Training, Operation Transformation Walks, Handball, Rory O’Connell Food Event, Children’s Movie night, Weekly Card Drives, Bridge evenings, Indoor Soccer League, Palates and Irish Dancing Classes.
Currently, committee members are calling to households collecting memberships. If anyone has been missed on the collection rounds – which can easily happen – a contribution can be given to any committee member. All in the area are thanked for their ongoing support for the centre – either through their contribution to membership or participation in the various activities – or through their support for the annual auction which continues to be a significant fundraiser each year.

TEAM HOPE SHOEBOX APPEAL: The deadline has been extended for the Annual Team Hope Shoebox collection. Please note though that shoe boxes must be left into Our Lady’s Meadow Primary School on or before Tuesday, November 14th.
DURROW LIBRARY: We have a series of Irish classes starting in association with our Irish conversation group on Monday’s at 8pm. All are welcome! Science week is running from the 13th to the 17th of November. As part of this Durrow library is hosting a series of Learnit Lego robotics workshops with some of the classes from Our Lady’s Meadow school on the 14th! Lego club will continue on Wednesday at 3pm and Saturday at 11am! Abbeyleix and Durrow libraries have recently won the Library Association of Ireland Project Prize of €1,000, so exciting Lego news is on the way! Again if anyone is interested in a genealogy course please do call in!
