THIRD LAOIS DURROW SCOUTS NEWS: The real camping season is starting next weekend with the Scouts competing in the County Shield. They have to set up camp on their own and build a few gadgets such as a dresser to hold the cooker and an altar fire. If they do well in the competition, they will be heading off to Pallinaskerry in Limerick at the end of August for the national Phoenix Challenge. If you are interested in joining us? CULLOHILL ICA: Cullohill ICA held their April monthly meeting in Cullohill Community Centre on Tuesday night last. Votes of sympathy were passed and prayers said for the families of Madeline Cahill, Nancy Keogh (nee Dunphy), the Alyward family and the cousins of John Hennessey. May they all Rest In Peace. There was a very good Tupperware demonstration held on the night which was interesting and enjoyable and anyone interested in items can contact Mary Bennett in Urlingford on (085) 2387669. Agnes Barnaville and Mary Bergin won the raffle. There will be no meeting in June as we will be on the Laois Federation outing to Kerry.

LAOIS ROSE 2018: Local woman Niamh Clancy been nominated as one of the Laois Roses and the selection night was held on Sunday, 6th May where the prestigious Laois Rose 2018 Grainne Hogan was selected. Proceeds of the raffle on the night went towards the GAA club of the winning Rose as each Rose has nominated a GAA Club to receive money for their nominated club to go towards jerseys and hurls etc… Niamh Clancy, Fermoyle, Durrow was kindly sponsored by Castle Durrow and everybody in the community wished her the very best of luck!
