St. Patrick’s Day: The St. Patrick’s Day festival will be held on Saturday, 17th March when we will have a parade. We ask all businesses, clubs and organisations to please get involved. There will be a Food and Craft Fair on the green along with Bouncy Castles, Dancing and Mini-GAA matches. If anybody would like to get involved and assist – please do contact any DDF member as we would be delighted with new ideas and assistance to help make this day a chance to catch up and meet with family and friends!

DURROW TOWN PLAN LAUNCH – POSTPONED: The Durrow Town plan was due to be launched next Friday, March 2nd – however owing to extra work involved the DDF have decided to postpone the launch and will announce a new date in the coming weeks. PIPE BAND: The Durrow and District Pipe Band which is back open and running are seeking a few new members. Age is of no importance, anywhere between 9 and 90, male or female will be warmly welcomed. For more details contact John Sheeran, Bandmaster on (087) 2493749.

Pilgrimage: The Diocese of Ossory Annual Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from May 22nd to May 27th inclusive. Bookings are now being taken and anyone wishing to travel on the Ossory Pilgrimage to Lourdes can contact Eleanor at (051) 880414 during weekdays between 9.30am and 1.30pm except for Wednesdays. The cost of the Pilgrimage will be €785.

VISIT OF POPE FRANCIS TO IRELAND: A formal announcement that Pope Francis will attend the World Meeting of Families in Ireland is expected shortly. Pope Francis personally chose Ireland to host this event. Parishioners who would like to attend all or part of the event can register for the three-day Pastoral Congress on online. Places for the Congress are limited and guarantee a ticket for the Festival of Families and the Final Mass which are expected to be led by Pope Francis. Although there will be no charge for any event led by the Pope, tickets for the Festival of Families will be very limited and not released until a later date, along with tickets for the Final Mass.

DURROW LIBRARY NEWS: Laois Libraries Lego Studios: This new project is aimed at young people between the ages of 10 to 14. If you are interested in film making, lego, drama, creative writing or art please register your interest in the project by email to or call into Durrow library. Places will be limited for this exciting new project!

CONGRATULATIONS to Martin Carroll (RIP), who was awarded a Posthumous Distinguished Service Medal by the Irish Prison Service recently. Martin is the son of Michael and Angela Carroll, Durrow and Timahoe and father to Conor & Daragh Carroll, Rathdowney. A great recognition for his sons and family.
