CULLOHILL-DURROW FLOWER CLUB: Cullohill and Durrow flower club hold their AGM and club night on Monday 13th November at 8pm in The Community Centre in Cullohill. The Annual Christmas Gala will be held on December 11th at 8pm in The Castle Arms Hotel with Oliver Lawlor. There will be mulled wine and mince pies as usual! Admission will be just €10 with all proceeds supporting The Irish Association for Cancer Research. Please come along and support.

Local Flower Club News
PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP: A Parent and Toddler group will continue in the Presentation Hall, Durrow on Tuesdays from 9.30am. Any parents, carers, childminders etc… interested in attending with their little people, suitable from baby stage up to pre-school for a play, chat, cuppa and cake are most welcome to attend. For information contact (086) 3914725. We will hold a few sessions over the coming weeks to gauge interest and sustainability of the group.
DURROW DEVELOPMENT FORUM AGM: The Durrow Development Forum AGM was held in the Library on Chapel Street last Wednesday the 8th of November at 8pm and was very well attended. The meeting was also attended by a visiting start-up committee from Clonking-Raheen.
The Chairperson’s report and Treasurer’s report were read and the current committee stepped down. Then the following new committee was elected… Chairperson: Evelyn Clancy; Vice-Chairperson: Noeleen Dunphy; Secretary: Emer O’Brien; Treasurer for DDF: Mary Walsh; Treasurer for Tidy Towns and Scarecrow Festival: Rita Casey. The committee members elected were Eddie Clancy, Marie Moylan, Jim Clancy, Anne Conroy, Pat Farrell, Orla Edwards, Irene Phelan, Daniel Dunne and Joan Murphy.
Kathleen Drennan, Madeline Conroy and Sheila Walsh will come on board with DDF for the Scarecrow Festival while the Durrow Tidy Towns has been re-organised as a subcommittee of DDF and the following were elected for the subcommittee: Secretary – Helen O’Brien; Project Manager – Fred Townsend; Treasurer – Rita Casey; Vice-Treasurer – Noeleen Dunphy. The Tidy Towns Committee will consist of Emer O’Brien, Ann Lannigan, Mary Walsh, Evelyn Clancy, Daniel Dunne and Gearóid Ryan.

PUMPKIN CARVING COMPETITION: On Monday evening last, as evening fell, the lights of several beautifully carved pumpkins adorned the green at Tae Lane. This lovely family event was once again a roaring success. The work and skill that went into each one was highly commended by our judge, the very artistic Marie Moylan. The overall winner was Marlena Tobin with the following all receiving prizes also: Liam Townsend, Sophia Lawlor, Billy Muldowney, Sean Kavanagh, Aisling Mahony and Kayleigh O’Sullivan In our opinion they were all winners so well done to one and all!!!

CULLOHILL CHOIR: Cullohill Choir presents “A Time to Remember” a Gala concert in St Tighearnachs Church, Cullohill on Sunday, 10th December at 3.30pm. The choir has touched the lives of so many in our community through funerals, weddings, receiving the sacraments, Christmas and Easter ceremonies and our weekly masses. The choir now wish to thank the community for their support by performing a once-off concert which will also celebrate 25 years of service to the choir by organist Brigid Maher. Refreshments will also be provided in Cullohill Community Centre after the concert. All are invited to come join in our celebration of remembrance and thanksgiving. More details will be advertised closer to the event.

VOCEM DARU CHOIR TO PERFORM IN BALLYRAGGET CONCERT: At an upcoming Ballyragget Church Concert the Vocem Daru Choir will be one of many top attractions to feature in Ballyragget Church on Friday night, November 24th at 7.30pm. The concert, in memory of Geraldine Murphy, will feature the Castlecomer Male Voice Choir, Ballyragget Girls School Choir, Fr. Eamonn O’Gorman, Deanside Minstrels, Vocem Daru Choir and the Ballyragget Church Choir. All proceeds will go to the Senior Citizens Christmas Party and the Christmas Tree Fund. Admission is just €5 with a massive raffle also on the night. All are most welcome. The Durrow Group continue their rehearsals and music making on Tuesdays in the Presentation Centre from 7.30pm until 9.30pm. We are always looking for new members. Do you love music, and enjoy singing, and would like to be part of a mixed voice choir, singing everything from ballads to pop, traditional to classical?
