The Anglers held their first two trout fishing competitions of the season. On St. Patrick’s Day they held their first competition of the season for the Michael Walsh Cup. First was Seanie Delahunty, Second – Seamus Coffey and Third – Jonathan Stapleton. Juvenile – First: Keelan Carroll, Second: Shane Shortall and Third: Ryan McDonald. On Sunday March 19th they held a trout fishing competition for the Billy Lawlor Memorial Cup. First were Tommy Coffey, second – David Walsh and third – Pat Dunphy. Juvenile: First – Keelan Carroll and second Shane Shortall.
Membership cards are available in Lawlor’s Gala, Daybreak, Lawlor’s Flower Shop and from Michael Walsh. Day   permits will cost €15. Grantstown Lake: Senior €30, OAP and Juveniles €5 and Day permits will cost €10.

The next competition for the Anglers will be on Easter Sunday, April 16th. All members will receive a text outlining full details of the competition. Members will fish for The Mick O’Rourke Memorial Trophy.
The Ladies who compete every year in the Mini-Marathon on the June Bank Holiday Monday are reminded to register now as demand for places on the starting line is very high and will fill up very quickly. This year the funds raised will go to Motor Neurone Research. Sponsorship cards and t-shirts are available from Susan Lawlor.

Level 2 Kayaking Training:
We will be running a Kayaking Training session on the weekend of 27th and 28th May. A fun 2 days of weekend paddling, games and on-the-water instruction for both adults and juniors (U18) who want to learn the basics of kayaking with qualified Canoeing Ireland instructors. This course is part of Laois Kayak and Canoe Club’s Summer Development Programme. What you will learn:
* To kayak safely & competently on flat water
* An understanding of the Basic Paddling Techniques and Safety Rules of canoeing
* An ability to Enter and Exit a kayak correctly
* Forward Paddle, Reverse Paddle, and Stop
* An ability to turn while stationary using Forward Sweep Stroke, Reverse Sweep Stroke and a combination of Forward and Reverse Sweep Strokes
* Simple Draw Stroke
* Low Brace
* Turning on the Move
* Edging while the kayak is moving
* Capsize Drill
* An ability to assist in an Assisted X Rescue and/or an H Rescue.

Durrow Scarecrow Festival 2017: LKCC are really excited to again be involved in this years scarecrow festival. It’s an event not to be missed and is a huge asset to the community as a whole. We look forward to assisting Durrow Development Forum in the different events and to seeing you all over the festival.
Interested in Kayaking: Our summer kayaking training and introduction sessions are now booking.  Mid-Week Paddling will start again on Wednesday evenings, once the evenings are longer. If you are    interested in taking up paddling please keep an eye out on Facebook and on our website for introduction nights, training sessions and events for Junior and Senior paddlers, details at online.

LIONS FC: The Lions are entering an Over-35 Soccer team into a Summer League. If anyone over thirty five is interested in playing, please contact any committee member of the Club.
The Nursery Programme for Junior and Senior Infants Boys will continue on Sundays in Cullohill Community Centre from 12pm until 1pm.
