Comhaltas Concert in Portlaoise
To celebrate the end of a very busy and most successful year Portlaoise branch of An Comhaltas held a student concert at St Paul’s NS thanks to the generosity of the management and staff.
Each week the voluntary leaders organise classes on Tuesdays and Fridays employing a panel of 15 teachers who specialise in playing harp, fiddle, uileann pipes, bodhrán, banjo and so forth. The learners progress to bands and groups which support community activities such as the official opening of the Commemorative 1916 Garden at Co Hall, Laois GAA Awards night and James Fintan Lalor Autumn School.
