Colt Mothers and Others take to field for first time

Portlaoise provided opposition for Colt ‘Mothers and Others’ debut

On Saturday 18th May, Colt Mothers and Others had their very first friendly match which was hosted in Colt GAA pitch against Portlaoise Mothers and Others. A collection was held on the day for Kolbe Special School who was represented on the day by Orla Mahon. The team, who are trained by Mick O’ Neill, are in their 1st year and have 59 members.

The game kicked off at 3pm and was refereed by Sean Higgins. Tony Ryan, Chairperson of Colt GAA, welcomed Portlaoise Mothers and Others and thanked them for their support and for a sporting game.
Also, thanks were given to sponsors to date; Martina Cuddy of Kuddz Kidz and Cllrs. Caroline Dwane Stanley and Thomasina Connell. Thanks was also given to members of the local community who have helped to date and supported this initiative.

Speeches were followed by refreshments for both teams and supporters and a lovely afternoon was had by all. Mothers and others Is an opportunity for women to get weekly exercise in a fun way while meeting other women in the local area.
