Colt Gaelic for Mothers & Others Raise Over €1,000 for Breast Cancer Ireland

Colt Gaelic for Mothers & Others host first-ever Charity Blitz and Raise Over €1,000 for Breast Cancer Ireland

Colt Gaelic for Mothers and Others were proud to host their first-ever charity blitz on Saturday, 25th April, welcoming five teams from across Ireland for a fantastic day of football, friendship, fun and fundraising in aid of Breast Cancer Ireland.

Travelling from all over Ireland to Laois for the occasion were teams from St. Conleth’s GAA, Parteen Meelick GAA, Coolkenno GAA, Rheban GAA and St Patrick’s Ballyoughter, making it a truly memorable occasion and a wonderful show of community spirit.

The day got off to a lively start with a brilliant warm-up led by Suzanna Toumi from Zumba Laois, which set the tone perfectly for the fun-filled day ahead.

A special word of thanks must go to referees Frank Shanahan, Peter O’Neill and Arthur O’Connor, whose help ensured everything ran smoothly throughout the day. One of the highlights for many was seeing the Laois referees proudly sporting pink tutus in the middle of all the action, which added hugely to the laughs and the great atmosphere on the day.

The blitz was beautifully captured by Lisa Doyle, whose photography preserved so many special memories for everyone involved.

Following the matches, players and supporters gathered in Doogue’s Bar for a raffle and social evening, which helped bring the total raised so far to over €1,000 for Breast Cancer Ireland, Colt G4MO’s chosen charity partner for 2026.

Sincere thanks also go to the main prize sponsors, Thompson Heating and Plumbing and OBPT Paul O’Brien Fitness, for their generous support.

Speaking after the event, the Colt G4MO committee said:

“Colt Gaelic for Mothers and Others (G4MO) was founded in 2023 with one main aim – to give local ladies aged 25+, mothers or not, the chance to come together, meet new friends and have the craic, with a little bit of football on the side.

Days like today show exactly what G4MO is all about. It was an amazing day from start to finish and we feel so lucky to have the incredible group of women that we do.

Raising over €1,000 for our charity partner, Breast Cancer Ireland, makes it even more special and we hope to continue adding to that total over the coming months.

We are always delighted to welcome new members, whether you have played football before or just want to come along, meet new people and enjoy the fun, friendship and support that G4MO brings.”

The committee would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible — all of the players, volunteers, supporters, sponsors, visiting teams and those who donated prizes or supported the raffle. A special thank you also goes to Colt GAA Club for their continued help and backing, which is greatly appreciated.

With over €1,000 now raised for Breast Cancer Ireland, the blitz marked a fantastic beginning to Colt G4MO’s fundraising efforts for the year, and the group looks forward to building on this success with more initiatives in the months ahead
