Cloneyhurke NS harvesting bottles and cans

Local Primary School collecting bottles and cans!

Cloneyhurke National School, located halfway between Portarlington and Mountmellick is a small, countryside school with two teachers, a full time Special Education teacher and two SNAs.

There is an active Parents’ Council who have supported the cost of engaging in swimming, gymnastics, music lessons, and VEX Robotics, along with trips to the library, Christmas shows, and school tours.

Chairperson of the Parents’ Council, Sarah Conway says – “I have 3 boys, my eldest is just gone into secondary school, so I have been involved with the Parents’ Council for a number of years now. We are always looking for new ideas to fundraise. It is a small community, but people are generally generous and support us in any way they can.”

This Climate Action Week we are asking each family in the school, staff, neighbours, and local businesses to donate one weeks worth of bottles and cans that they may be collecting as part of the Re-Turn Scheme. We have a drop off point outside the school and we are very excited to see how our collection builds up over the week.

The drop off point will be set up outside the front of the school from 14-24 October. Eircode R32FT51

Cloneyhurke NS hold their enrolment week from 18-25 October.
