
Charity CD Launch
In De Brún’s Pub, Main Street, Portlaoise this Saturday at 9pm there’s the launch of a music CD in aid of ‘P.A.T.H.’ a recently established non-profit charity based in Portlaoise Co Laois. ‘P.A.T.H.’ consists of a group of volunteers are committed to feeding the Homeless in Dublin.
Joe Brown, originally from Portlaoise, but now living in the UK, has recorded a CD with other Portlaoise musicians called ‘Paddy Come Home’. The CD will be for sale on the evening of the launch and costs €3. The CD is also on iTunes and Amazon with 100% of the proceeds going to P. A. T. H.
The song Paddy Come Home consists of a song in three parts:
1. 1600s telling the story of the Irish as Slaves to the Caribbean
2. 1800s the famine and famous people whose families came from Ireland
3. 2000’s with the collapse of the Celtic Tiger and its aftermath.
The CD was recorded at Redlakes Sound Studio, Portlaoise and the sound engineer was Gary Duncan.
Musicians on the CD include Joe Brown (singer and composer), Áine Fingleton (Whistle), Aonghus Buggie (Tenor Banjo and Bazouki), Joseph Byrne, (Uileann Pipes), Pat Reddin, (Accordian).
