Bank Holiday Weather
SATURDAY AUGUST 1ST: A fair day in store with sunny spells and some fair weather cloud. Feeling milder than of late in light southerly breezes with highs of 17c to 18c or 19c. OVERNIGHT: Cloud extending from the west bringing a spell of rain by dawn. Lows of 10c to 12c in a freshening SE breeze.
NOTE: There is some uncertainty around Sunday and Monday owing to the track of a storm centre close to the west coast – we are issuing the following forecast based on latest information below.
SUNDAY AUGUST 2ND: Generally overcast with spells of light rain or drizzle continuing on-and-off for the day, though some prolonged drier interludes also. Of note will be the fresh to strong southerly winds, some gale gusts possible on higher ground. Highs of 15c or 16c. OVERNIGHT: Continuing overcast with a spell of more general rain for a while. Breezy. Lows of 10c to 12c.
MONDAY AUGUST 3RD: Overcast at first, though becoming brighter as the day progresses. Any early rain clearing by late morning with a few showers possible in the afternoon. Highs around 17c or 18c in fresh southwest to west breezes. OVERNIGHT: Cool under partly cloudy skies in a fresh SW breeze. Lows 9c to 11c.
NEXT WEEK OUTLOOK: Not much improvement as the unsettled theme continues with rain never too far away in to the first week of August.
