LAOIS COUNTY MASTERS ROAD 2015
Ballyroan-Abbeyleix Athletics Club had a great day at the County Masters road race held in Portarlington recently, Our ladies were first up in the 3k event and all ran brilliantly on the day with Joanne Carroll leading the way home in 3rd place in 11.23 in her first-ever championship race to win a County Bronze medal. Joanne had great back up from her team mates Jean Mcevoy 5th in 11.44, Sandra Fitzpatrick 7th in 12.07 and Siobhan Burke 13th in 13.04 all having great runs to help Ballyroan-Abbeyleix Athletics Club win the County Team Gold medal.
The men’s 6k event took place straight after the ladies and was 2 loops of the triangle lap and all ran well on the day and were unlucky not to medal with Martin McDonald 1st home for the club in 12th in 21.22 followed by Eoin O Brien 23rd in 23.31, Paul Burke 24th in 23.40 and Tim Churchouse 28th in 24.48.
