Saluting the Brave

Mountmellick group Emer Dunne and Drua will be performing their popular show ‘Saluting the Brave’ again this year, this time in Portarlington as part of Heritage Week 2015. The show, which features songs and music of the Great War, was very successful and attracted a large audience when they performed it in Mountmellick last year. The show takes place on Saturday  August 29 at 8.00pm in the Old Convent assembly Hall, Patrick Street, Portarlington, (beside the RC Church) Admission is €10.  The highlight of the programme will be The Promise of Barty O’Brien (1951) , a rarely-seen featurette, specially restored for this presentation. It is a compelling family drama about a young man who dreams of becoming an engineer at the Portarlington Power Station. Wednesday 26 August, 8pm, €7/€5.
