PUBLIC MEETING
A public meeting on the future of Portlaoise Hospital is being held in the Portlaoise Parish Centre on Thursday November 9 at 8 pm. Speakers are Brian Stanley TD, Louise O’Reilly TD, Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Health and Joe Hoolan, Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO). In view of the HSE Report which recommends the downgrading of the A&E Department, show your opposition by coming along and having your voice heard.

BOOK FAIR
Sandylane National School are hosting a Scholastic Children’s Book Fair on November 9 to 15 in the Parochial Hall, The Square, Portarlington. Dates and times are as follows:
Thursday November 9- 3-4 pm. Friday 10- 3-6 pm. Saturday 11- 10 am – 12pm.

RAINBOW PROGRAMME
The Rainbow Programme for Primary School children of the parish aged 7-12 years will commence in the Presentation Primary School, Station Road on Wednesday November 8 from 2.30pm – 3.15pm and every Wednesday at the same time. The programme consists of twelve sessions, one session weekly with two ‘Celebrate Me’ days. Rainbows’ is a support programme for children who have experienced death, a separation or are struggling through a painful experience. If you are interested in acquiring more information to have your child or children take part in this programme, contact Ursula or Dolores on 057-8623007 (Mon. – Fri. 9am-2.30pm – School Hours).

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Patricia Dempsey (nee Dowling) Garryhinch & formerly O’Moore Forest Mountmellick who passed away on Friday October 20. Patricia was predeceased by her loving husband Patsy. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Mary, sons Joe & Aidan, grandchildren, sisters Margaret, Bernie, Mary & Dolores, brother John, extended family, neighbours & friends. Requiem Mass took place on Sunday October 22 in St Michael’s Church Portarlington, with burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Patricia rest in Peace.
