Dancing continues every Monday night in The Gandon Inn, from 9.30pm to 11.30pm in aid of Portarlington St V de Paul. August 7th-Done & Dusted. Come along for a great night out.  Admission €7.  All welcome.

Deepest Sympathy to the family of Margaret Corcoran (nee Byrne), Tinnakill Portarlington & formerly Mountmellick who passed away on July 19. Margaret will be sadly missed by her husband Mattie, her 5 sisters, Aunt Mary, her extended family, neighbours & friends. Margaret was a former Staff Officer of Laois Vocational Education Committee. Requiem Mass took place on Saturday July 22 in St Joseph’s Church Mountmellick, with burial after in St Joseph’s Cemetery. May Margaret rest in Peace.


Deepest Sympathy to the family & friends of Niall Farrell, Castle Gate & formerly Raheny Dublin who passed away on July 23. Niall will be sadly missed by all his relatives & friends. Requiem Mass took place on Tuesday July 25 in St Michael’s Church, with burial after in St Michael’s Cemetery. May Niall rest in Peace.

Congratulations to Stuart Mulpeter who recently won the Middleweight MMA title in Cork for the Cage Legacy promotion. Stuart took the fight with one week’s notice and went on to be the champ. A huge achievement for Stuart and SBG Portarlington. Well done.


Portarlington Lawn Tennis Club will hold their Junior Annual Sponsored Walk to help fund their Summer Tennis program. Walk will be held on Saturday August 12 leaving the Tennis Club at 2 pm. Refreshments afterwards in the clubhouse. All welcome.

Portarlington GAA would like to say thanks to everyone who took part in their French Festival 5k run and to those that bought a duck for the Duck race. Thanks also to all those that gave up their time at the weekend to help out during club events.

Brains of Arlington takes place in the Barrow Lodge on Friday August 18 @ 9pm. €40 for a table of 4. Trivia and video rounds.   The winning table will receive a trophy and a pizza voucher/Astro hire voucher for the team in the club they are representing. Please support Arlington AFC Juveniles.
